When we traveled around Italy in 2000, we left out Rome, because we were afraid
of the heavy traffic (which turned out to be a very smart decision!). So we saved this trip for a later time, after all Rome
is called "The Eternal City" for a reason! It took us five years to finally make this trip, and it has been fantastic for us!
Rome and the Roman lifestyle is definitely an experience of its own. When you are planning your trip to Rome, you will want to check out Rome apartments which are ideally located just a short distance away from the Eternal City's most famous sights and attractions. This will make sighsteeing and exploring the city a lot more convenient on your part. For a photographer this city is a true nightmare. You see beautiful places almost anywhere, but everything has been photographed before! Which is no surprise: on average roughly 25,000 tourists arrive in Rome every single day of the year, and I guess that all these guys are taking pictures - a lot of them! And indeed, a search for "photos rome" returns roughly 196 million results. So I wondered whether my photo gallery does actually make any sense at all? How could I possibly add value to this? Well, I decided to use the proven layout which focuses on the photos but adds a tiny narrative in the captions. I selected 108 photos from the 440 photos I made during our four day trip. All the highlights are covered here: the Colosseo, the Basilica di San Pietro, the Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain. I sincerly hope that you also like the photos that are "off the beaten track". Enjoy! |
