Desert Air V5-AEM

Desert Air have this well-maintained 6-seater Cessna 210 light aircraft (registration V5-AEM) permanently based on the Sossusvlei Lodge's property. It's just a short flight to the Namib-Desert-Lodge, so we do the payment transaction and receive the security briefing.

UPDATE 21-05-2012 - This aircraft crashed on 29-05-2011 in Namibia. The pilot apparently had to carry out a forced landing on a farm road after the engine quit, close to Tiger Forte Hunting Farm, 40km south of Dordabis. During the approach, the aircraft's right wing collided with a tree causing substantial damage. The propeller and front cowlings were also damaged as a result of a suspected nose-wheel collapse. The aircraft has been damaged beyond repair, and thank god there were no fatalities. [Full incident report.]
