Old Town Alcudia Mallorca

This is a view towards the old town entrance. Researchers think that the town was already very active during the Roman empire, when Quintus Caecilius Metellus built the islands capital here, named "Pollentia". The city walls were erected in the 13th century as protection against pirates.
