The story behind the image

Here’s an interesting photo that I shot in Lisbon, Portugal, in December 2002. It shows the building at the corner of Rua Saraiva de Carvalho and Travessa Prazeres. It has seen better times for sure and could be called a ruin – if there wasn’t a man reading a newspaper on the ground floor to the left.

Now, I was stumbling over this image the other day. And I was wondering what might have happened to the building?

As usual, Google has a good answer: It has been removed. Today, there is a small triangular shaped place with large trees. Oh, and the trees that were pretty small in 1999 have significantly grown over the past two decades.
