At the Esplanadepark (sitting between Pohjoisesplanadi and Eteläesplanadi) you will find the national writer Johan Ludwig Runeberg (1804-1877). He wrote the text of the Finnish national hymn.

If you want to do some shopping, give the Forum at the Mannerheimintie a try. A nice place consisting of many shops, ranging from affordable to expensive.
