![]() West of the base camp, the famous "Otter Trail" begins. |
![]() While you need a special permit to access and hike the Otter Trail, you may have a glimpse at the wonders of the trail by hiking up to the waterfall. This trail is a free public trail of the Tsitsikamma National Park. |
![]() The guidebook says "just follow the yellow painted footprints". But this is easier said than done: one time we lost the trail and could be seen looking for the footprints. But, hey, it was fun anyway. |
![]() One of the truly magnificient coastal views of the Otter Trail. The trail requires some (easy) rock scrambling and boulder-hopping. |
![]() The "Waterfall Trail" is about 5.3 kilometers in distance from the base camp and takes about 3 hours to hike. |
![]() At the end of the "Waterfall Trail" is - the waterfall. You may take a refreshing bath in the pool in front of the waterfall or simply take a rest and enjoy the scenery. Once you've reached the waterfall, you may not proceed further west without the "Otter Trail" permit. |
![]() This is the Paul Sauer Bridge on the N2 over the Storms River. While not really spectacular, it lets you look deep into the Storms River valley. |
![]() This (rather boring) bridge on the N2 is home to the "Bloukrans Bungy Jump", renowned as the "Rolls Royce" of bungy jumps. At 216 meters, it is the worlds highest bungy jump, off the highest bridge in Africa. Surrounded by scenic beauty of the Tsitsikamma Forest in the heart of the Garden Route, this adrenalin packed experience will ensure a 100% screamfest that you'll never forget. The bridge is located between Tsitsikamma N.P. and Plettenberg Bay. Please see www.faceadrenalin.com for details. |
![]() On your way to Plettenberg Bay you should do the side trip to Nature Valley, a small, pretty village with a lagoon, beaches and the ocean. |
![]() The lagoon of Nature Valley. Clear water and clear skies make a perfect combination for a day of relaxing, don't you think? |
![]() The lagoon of Nature Valley also invites for water sports, like kajaking or swimming. |
![]() You should also visit the beach of Nature Valley and have a walk along the coast. |
