The story behind the image
We reached the Sorrento coast in the afternoon, coming from the Vesuvio across a busy, hot and boring highway. It was exciting to see the dramatic change of the landscape once we entered the SS145, aka ‘The Scenic Road to Sorrento’. All of a sudden, there was just moderate traffic, it was all green, and the air was tasty – a welcome change after the super busy Naples area.
Right before we really entered the Sorrento Coast at the village called Meta, we encountered this fantastic view. The road is really close to the cliffs east of Meta, and we stopped to enjoy the view and take a couple of pictures.
The wide angle of the lens makes it appear as if the photo was shot from a drone or paraglider, but I took the image from the viewpoint which sits high above the water. Lovely.
