If you drive Lake Mary Road up to the Mammoth Lakes all to its end, you will suddenly
reach another lake, but...
|

...this lake is almost dried up...
|

...and the trees are dead all around the lake! This is caused by a high
concentration of CO2 in the soil. Therefor, you should not dig in the
soil, and also refrain from taking a sunbath up here.

The June Lake Loop, situated between Mammoth City and Lee Vining, is another spectacular
and scenic drive!

Another photo of June Lake Loop.

We decided to stay in Lee Vining, and fortunately we saw a vacancy sign
outside our motel. You better be early, though, because there are not too
many rooms in Lee Vining, and they fill quickly as the village is the starting
point for many tourists going to Yosemite National Park!
