On your way to Campbell River you should stop at the Oyster Bay. Here you will see
people collecting oysters, and you will find many empty oyster shells.

Once you leave Campbell River behind, it suddenly gets very rural, and the constant stream
of cars is replaced by a logging truck then and now. Just 3% of the people live in the
northern half of Vancouver Island, so do some shopping in Campbell River. There will be
very few opportunities for the next 220 km.

Logging is important for the economy of Vancouver Island. But usually the forests are not cut
close to the highway, so the tourists won't get upset. Here, one of the rare examples for
a logged area.
