Sardinia Photo Gallery

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

I am making good progress with the work on the previously unreleased photo galleries. This week I am happy to present to you 215 photos of our trip to Sardinia in 2010.

This trip had been a dream for some time, and I can absolutely confirm that the southern part of Sardinia is fabulous. If you take your time to also discover its rural spots, like Lago del Flumendosa or the Costa Verde, then you will love the island even more. Sardinia is much more than just long, clean beaches with clear blue water (you get that, too). It also is a witness of an exciting history, and the remains of this history can be found almost everywhere.

To help you plan your trip to Sardinia, we have put together the addresses of the places where we stayed, including some tips on what to do and where to eat.

Without further ado, here is the Sardinia Photo Gallery.

Lago di Como Photo Gallery

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Every now and then there is a slow period with fewer assignments, and I use this time to work on the site or just relax. Recently I realized that I have not really added content to the site for a long time, and I decided to change this over the next few weeks.

I started last week with the update of the Rome gallery, and this week I worked on the photos from our trip to Lago di Como in 2011.

This gallery is quite interesting as the trip was really a vacation, i.e. I took just our small Ricoh CX-1 camera (that we typically use just for snapshots) while I left the “nice” DSLR bodies in the office – less hazzle with the bodies, lenses, backpack. I was really surprised to see the good image quality of this P&S camera.

Sure, once you zoom into the high-resolution images, you inevitably begin to see all the typical shortcomings like sensor noise and chromatic errors, and you certainly have less leeway in post-production than with RAWs from a 1D mark IV, but still the quality is fully sufficient for presenting the images on our site. :-)

Lago di Como is a perfect summer destination. You get Italian lifestyle and food paired with Victorian architecture and stunning scenery in a moderate climate.

So, please enjoy our selection of Lago di Como photos.

Easter Surprise

Unterhaching on the morning of the 8th April, 2012
Mark Zanzig

The Easter Bunny brought a weird surprise this year: Three centimeters (1 Inch) of new, fresh, beautiful snow!

This is quite bizarre, especially when considering that we already enjoyed breakfast on the patio three weeks ago (which was admittedly very early in the year) and had the first sunburn. And now it’s snowing like there is no tomorrow…

Anyway, Happy Easter to all of you!
